When I was introduced to Bikram Yoga I had no idea it would have such a huge impact on my life.
I had been in a couple of car accidents years ago that left me with major neck and back pain. In the five years prior to me starting Bikram I had taken fertility drugs, pills, and shots and had multiple miscarriages. This left me emotionally, mentally, and spiritually broken.
As Emmy Cleaves says, I had “issues in my tissues.”
Then I started Bikram Yoga. I didn’t realize what was happening to me right away. I was so caught up in how difficult and bloody hot it was to realize that I was slowly starting to heal. After about 4 months I noticed that my neck and back didn’t hurt anymore. Joy, happiness, love and compassion came back into my life. It had to be Bikram Yoga, as nothing else had worked. From that moment on, I was hooked. I knew that I would do this for the rest of my life and wanted to share that with others.
I completed Bikram’s Yoga Teacher Training in the spring of 2009 in Palm Desert, California.
For me, this isn’t about perfection. It is about looking into your own eyes with compassion, trying the right way, to the best of your ability, with your 110% effort. I love Bikram Yoga and am filled with gratitude.
