I went to my first Bikram class in 2001 and wasn't sure what to think after such an intense experience, but I knew I felt amazing and was curious. After experimenting with a variety of yoga styles, I returned to Bikram yoga in 2004 and have been practicing regularly ever since. I came to Martha and Eric's Minneapolis studio in 2015 after moving to the Twin Cities. I love this studio and this yoga so much and am deeply grateful for our amazing community of teachers and students to practice with and to learn from.
Bikram yoga has been a constant and stabilizing force in my life. The yoga continuously teaches me about myself in the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual realms. The yoga has taught me about acceptance, breathing, stillness, resolve, humor, determination, focus, joy, presence, grounding, peace, strength, resilience, love, patience, and it has helped me navigate through my life and work in so many profound ways.
I always wondered about the possibility of going to teacher training, but knew I'd have to wait until I retired, as I would never be able to take 9 weeks off work to attend a training. The silver lining of the Covid pandemic year for me was that Martha and Eric decided to offer a teacher training and I happened to be working half time due to pandemic circumstances - what an opportunity!! I graduated from the Minneapolis Yoga Teacher Training in June of 2021 and I am so excited to learn even more about this yoga, the body, and about myself and others as I begin to guide people through their practices. I'm grateful for the opportunity to keep the teaching tradition of this unique 26&2 hot yoga going for others to discover what they might learn through their own practices. Thank you Martha, Eric, and the Minneapolis yoga community!!!
**When I'm not practicing yoga, I'm practicing my bass and playing concerts with the Minnesota Orchestra. I love taking my dog on walks along the river with my husband, and love to cook and read.
