When I walked into the St. Paul Bikram studio over a decade ago I had no idea my life would be forever changed. I had practiced many forms of yoga from the age of nineteen and walking into that first class I thought, ‘cool a new kind of yoga class to try out.’ That first class blew me away. It required more physical and mental focus than any form of exercise I had done in the past. I felt amazing after and I was in love! I rearranged my work schedule so I could get to class at least three times per week and eventually was at the studio five to six days per week. A few years later I was invited to Minneapolis Yoga for advanced Bikram classes. There I met Martha, and fell deeper in love with yoga. I knew I wanted to teach someday but I could never leave my young children for weeks to attend teacher training. When the St. Paul studio closed in 2020, I went back to Minneapolis Yoga. When Martha decided to have teacher training in 2021 I jumped at the chance to fulfill my dream!
These postures are the same, in the same order every time, systematically effecting every inch of your body. This is invaluable for me personally. Being born with just part of my right arm means that I need to continuously work on maintaining symmetry in my body. The 26 and 2 is the only form of exercise I have found that helps me accomplish symmetry, alignment, and strength on both sides, left and right. This is not just physical and mental exercise however, this yoga has changed me emotionally and spiritually as well. Throughout the years of my practice, I have experienced many transitions in my life and the hot room has brought me peace, every time, for 90 minutes. I am incredibly grateful and humbled to share yoga with others. It is truly amazing. I look forward to meeting you in the hot room!
